Guidelines on Limiting Exposure to Non-Ionizing Radiation. A reference book based on guidelines on limiting exposure to non-ionizing radiation and statements on special applications. Munich: International Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection; 1999.

Content: The recommendation of appropriate exposure limits for workers and for members of the public is the chief objective that has been assigned to ICNIRP. The ICNIRP Guidelines on limits of exposure to the different NIR are established on the basis of the scientific data collected for the relevant Environmental Health Criteria and on any later published research data. The purpose of the guidelines is to deal with the basic principles of protection against the relevant NIR, so that they may serve as guidance to bodies as well as the individual experts who are responsible for the development of regulations, recommendations, or codes of practice to protect the workers and the general public.

This book contains the ICNIRP guidelines for airborne ultrasound, static magnetic fields, EMF, UV radiation, laser, broadband optical radiation. Additionally it entails the ICNIRP statements on visual display units, fluorescent lighting, sunbeds, light emitting diodes, laser pointers, mobile phones and base stations, and on magnetic resonance imaging.
