Tania Cestari

Tania Cestari received her medical degree from the University of Rio Grande do Sul and completed her medical Residency in Dermatology in Porto Alegre, Brazil. Her PhD was awarded by the University of Rio de Janeiro – Rio de Janeiro, Brazil following a thesis about the influence of UV radiation on the granulomatous response in humans which she conducted at the Department of Immunology of the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston TX. Dr. Cestari is Professor of Dermatology at the University of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, and her studies are predominantly on clinical aspects and skin response. Her main areas of interest are on pigmentary disorders, photoprotection on different skin types, use of UV radiation as a therapeutical tool and dermatosis influenced by photoexposure in children and adults. Dr Cestari has authored 112 scientific peer-reviewed publications, 42 book chapters and supervised 57 Master Thesis and 15 PhD thesis. She is presently Chief of the Photobiology Unit – Department of Dermatology, Hospital de Clínicas de Porto Alegre, Brazil and Head of the Laboratory of Applied Photomedicine and Teledermatology of the Research Center - Hospital Clinicas Porto Alegre, besides being involved in international and national committees in particular regarding medical education. Tania Cestari joined the Commission in May 2020.
