Robyn Lucas

Robyn Lucas is a medically trained epidemiologist and public health physician. She received her medical degree from the University of Auckland (1979) and a PhD in epidemiology and population health from the Australian National University (2005). She became a specialist public health physician in 2005, after being admitted to Fellowship of the Australasian Faculty of Public Health Medicine. She is the Head of the National Centre for Epidemiology and Population Health at the Australian National University (moving to an Emeritus Professor of the university in 2021). Prof Lucas' research has focused on environmental risk factors to health, particularly the effects of sun exposure - both adverse and beneficial - to immune function and chronic disease. She was the lead author for health on the UNEP Environmental Effects Assessment Panel for a number of years. Lucas is currently President of the Australasian Faculty of Public Health Physician. She was appointed a member of the ICNIRP Scientific Expert Group in November 2020.
