Website Relaunch

Sep 2014

Why a Website Relaunch?

  • To give a clearer picture of what ICNIRP is all about and what ICNIRP does
After more than fifteen years of using a self-made web, time had come for a new look-and-feel in a re-launched ICNIRP website. This has been developed by the Web Project Group, with the professional support of a graphic design and web agency. Clarity, modernity and friendliness were the lead terms with which we decided to phrase the new online communication platform. More than a repository of the ICNIRP guidelines and a workshop booking platform, the new web site offers wider content, including summaries of the ICNIRP protection messages and links to external source of information on various topics. At the conclusion of the web modernization process, the core website will also be offered in a few additional languages.

  • To provide more targeted information on NIR protection
Readers can access specific information, depending on their particular interests. Those who want to get general information in a nutshell on radiation effects; on health implications and ICNIRP protection messages related to either a specific radiation or a specific NIR application, can read short website articles that are arranged by frequencies or types of application. Those who want to know more detail and how ICNIRP derives its protection messages can complement their reading with the ICNIRP publications, such as the guidelines; or at mid-level with an ICNIRP fact sheet; or by viewing a video tutorial from the latest NIR workshop on the subject.

For example, if you are interested in powerlines and in the related ICNIRP protection message, you may go directly to the article entitled “powerlines” under “applications”. There you will find a brief summary of the ICNIRP guidance and for more details you are referred to other documents containing the ICNIRP guidance in summary (fact sheets) or in full length (guidelines). Also you are directed to additional external sources of information for a broader view on the topic.

  • In order to find ICNIRP publications with more ease
The website is used by most visitors to obtain access to the main ICNIRP scientific output, which are the guidelines, reviews and statements. Access to these publications is now improved. The publications are listed in chronological order of publication. By selecting filters such as the type of publication (i.e. guidelines, statement, review, proceedings, etc.), the subject (frequency or applications), or the media type (pdf, cd, book, etc.) the specific item(s) on the subject of interest can be identified and downloaded or purchased.

  • More efficient registration for the newsletter and for processing bookings
Functionalities on the web site are increased. When registering for the newsletter, you will now get the option of selecting a specific topic of interest that you want information on. The book order and workshop registration process is more flexible and is one step shorter than before. Data processing will become much more efficient.

We hope you will find your way to the information you need more easily, and that you will enjoy surfing the new website.
