ICNIRP at the 79th WHO WHA - Side Event

ICNIRP was pleased to contribute to a side event of the 79th World Health Assembly organized by the Ministries of Health of Iraq and Egypt on 19 May 2026. On this occasion, the ICNIRP Chair, Dr Akimasa Hirata, delivered a lecture entitled "Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection in Modern Society".
The session explored why radiation protection is needed and how ICNIRP, ICRP and WHO help Member States. ICNIRP's exposure guidelines are based on substantiated adverse health effects and provide protection for the general public, workers, and people in medical settings.
